The girlfriend, Dawn Foster, was found safe inside an RV park owned by Tokier that was parked at the Islander RV Resort in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., according to Cathedral City police.

Lt. Abraham Tokier apparently remains on paid administrative leave while Palm Springs police sort out the events of the last week. The Riverside County District Attorney's office will reportedly review police reports about possible spousal abuse, stemming from a quarrel between Tokier, 50, and Foster, 37, that prompted witnesses to call police last week.

Tokier is a high-profile member of the Palm Springs Police Department, often speaking for it at major crime scenes or public events. Community leaders expressed shock and surprise when he was jailed, as police searched across the Coachella Valley region for Foster, who had disappeared after the dispute.

Tokier was arrested Thursday on suspicion of spousal abuse and kidnapping.
