Driver Falls Asleep at Wheel, Flips Car on 118 Freeway

The accident happened early Friday morning on the westbound 118 Freeway at the Sepulveda Boulevard off-ramp.

Witnesses told police the driver fell asleep and veered off the shoulder, dropping 20 feet, before landing upside-down in the roadway.

The man was trapped in his car until firefighters arrived.

He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
