Nearly 5,000 Huntington Beach residents lose power on Thanksgiving Day

Thousands Lose Power on Thanksgiving Day

An underground electrical cable failed Thursday afternoon and left some 5,000 Huntington Beach residents without power on Thanksgiving Day.

Southern California Edison spokesman Charles Coleman said crews were working determine why the cable failed and to restore power as quickly as possible.

The area affected by the outage is bordered by Yorktown Avenue on the north, Beach Boulevard on the west, Indianapolis Avenue on the south and Magnolia Street on the east.

Crews were able to restore power to most of the affected customers by 4:00 p.m.
