Weekend: Halloween, West Hollywood to Wicked Lit

WEST HOLLYWOOD HALLOWEEN CARNAVAL: The questions that remain at this point. 1) Are you going? 2) Are you ready to out-costume 500,000 other revelers? 3) What's your transportation situation? 4) Are you ready to join in a simultaneous, six-stage-wide "Time Warp" session, in honor of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"? Question 5) we can answer: Sunday, Oct. 31, at Santa Monica Boulevard and La Cienega.

HAUTE DOG HOWL'OWEEN PARADE: Even though this annual Long Beach wag-n-walk has a few zeroes less than West Hollywood's Carnaval -- 500, not 500,000 -- consider the fact that 500 dogs, all in costume, all in one place, is a remarkable amount. You can enter your own dressy dog, or you can watch. Either way, practice that move where you hold your phone up while you take a lot of photos. You'll be doing that a lot. Sunday, Oct. 31, 2:30 p.m.

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS: The annual LA Day of the Dead is celebrated at Hollywood Forever, as it has been in years past. To look for: Elaborate altars that add meaning and remembrance to those who have gone. This afternoon-and-evening-long celebration will have many musical and dance highlights; everything begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30. Come as a calavera, of course.
