Woman Gets Jail For Having Baby With 15-Year Old Boy

Debra Ayala Tapia was sentenced to one year in county jail after she pleaded guilty to felony charges of lewd acts upon a child, oral copulation of a minor under 16, and unlawful sexual intercourse. Three other charges were dismissed as part of a plea deal.

Prosecutors say the relationship between Ayala and the boy began in early 2009.

Ayala, who has three children of her own, ages 17, 12, and 7, began inviting the boy to her home, according to attorneys. The two began a sexual relationship between February and November 2009.

The illicit relationship was discovered by the boy's mother who found suggestive letters from Tapia in her son's room.

"She found it odd and started investigating," says Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.
