Sports columnist Jay Mariotti arrested in Los Angeles

Officer Norma Eisenman said the 51-year-old Mariotti was arrested following a "domestic incident." The Sheriff's Department website confirmed Mariotti was booked on an undisclosed felony charge at 5:45 a.m. Saturday. He was released on $50,000 bail just after noon.

Police said Mariotti got into an argument with his girlfriend at a club in Santa Monica, where he believed she had been flirting with another man. Witnesses saw the two exchange "harsh words" before getting into a car to leave, and the fight allegedly continued at the couple's apartment.
