L.A. Mayor's Comp Tickets Probed

LOS ANGELES -- The district attorney has opened an inquiry into Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's use of complimentary tickets for sports and entertainment events.

Villaraigosa has been seen at Los Angeles Lakers games, sitting in the owner's box at Dodger Stadium and at the Grammys and other award shows.

His office says Villaraigosa attends the events in his capacity as mayor and is in compliance with all rules and regulations.

An inquiry is the lowest level of review by the Los Angeles County district attorney's office. It was opened Friday in response to a complaint filed with the office.

Who filed that complaint has not been made public.

Elected officials are required to report gifts they receive, but are exempt from those requirements if they conduct official business or have a ceremonial role at the event.
