While her parents attended a wedding, 15-year-old Rachel Ross decided to throw a party for her friends at her Wallasey, Merseyside home. But when details were posted on Facebook, the house was overrun by gatecrashers.

Jewellery and antiques were stolen, the house was ransacked and beds were urinated in. Eggs were thrown at windows, a present bought for a christening had been urinated on and a sauce fight had erupted. Pictures and toys were broken and the family's belonging were strewn across three floors.

"They must have told their friends through Facebook that they were having a party, thinking they were talking between themselves, and obviously a lot of other people got wind of it," Rachel's father Michael Ross said.

"The next thing, they had loads of gatecrashers coming down, events took hold and they couldn't control it any more."

"The smell is outrageous. As soon as you walk in, it just hits you. It's like a blocked toilet or the pub the next day."

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said they were called out to the party and then again the next day when items were reported stolen.
