- Increase the center's capacity to manage the needs of a rising volume of clients
- Support direct client services such as transportation and clothing
- Recruit, train and manage more volunteers, which are critical to the center's operations
In addition, the City of San Diego announced that it will be collecting no-longer-used wireless phones and accessories at city offices in a month-long wireless phone collection drive.
Phones can also be donated at Verizon Wireless Communications Stores in San Diego and at participating police and fire stations across the city. These donations will enable the HopeLine program to award grants to non-profit organizations focused on eliminating domestic violence and providing aid to survivors, as well as offer an environmentally conscious way for consumers to dispose of their wireless phones.
"The HopeLine program is not only a lifeline for domestic violence survivors, but also the organizations that provide them assistance in times of need," said Luis Cruz, region president of Verizon Wireless. "Donating your old cell phones and accessories to HopeLine will help make a difference right here in San Diego."
