Miss GEICO Sets World Kilo Record

Three-time World Champion Miss GEICO powered by AMF Offshore Racing, LLC ("AMF") added to its staggering collection of racing records by shattering the World Record Kilo Run in Sarasota, Florida.

"The Kilo Run is the most dangerous side of offshore racing because you are taking the boat to the maximum," quipped driver Marc Granet. Despite choppy water and a strong cross wind the Miss GEICO boat established a turbine class World Record of 184.002 mph.

Throttleman, Scotty Begovich, had Miss GEICO up to 188 mph before the boat started to lift a little out of control and he turned things down. "We wanted to preserve the boat for Sunday's race," added Begovich.

The Miss GEICO boat later went on to defeat all of the worlds largest and fastest boats at the 25th Annual Suncoast Super Boat Grand Prix event for the third consecutive year. Team Owner, John Haggin, raved about the number of racing fans that swarmed Lido Beach. "There had to be over 100,000 racing fans and every time Miss GEICO zoomed by the shoreline all you could hear was 'GEICO.' I loved it!"

Indeed, Miss GEICO certainly put on a show for the fans of Sarasota, Florida. The next race for Miss GEICO is Michigan City, Indiana on August 8-9 before heading up to New York for the Patchogue GEICO Triple Crown Race on August 22-23, followed by the 19th Annual New York City Super Boat Race on September 12-13, 2009.
