Academy working with LA County Museum of Art to create film museum

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has decided to work with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art to create a museum dedicated to the world of cinema at a lot adjacent to the LACMA. The announcement came after the Academy’s board of governors voted in favor of the decision Tuesday night.

According to The Associated Press, the move gives the Academy full autonomy of the 300,000 square feet property that is owned by the LACMA. The Academy will start designing exhibitions and fundraising for their museum.
