American Airlines offered $99 round-trip fares between Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport for flights before Oct. 27. The nonrefundable, economy-class tickets must be purchased at least 21 days prior to traveling.

"We have the most flights between DFW and Los Angeles ... now it's even better," said Rob Friedman, a vice president for American Airlines, which offers 19 daily, round-trip flights between Dallas and LAX.

The move comes one week after rival carrier Virgin America offered a "two for one" ticketing discount this fall for its three daily, nonstop flights between DFW and LAX.
