An 18-year-old Los Angeles man was headed south in the Smart Car on the 110 Freeway when he collided about 2:40 a.m. with a 1971 Chevy Monte Carlo parked on the freeway's shoulder, according to California Highway Patrol officials.
The Monte Carlo was stopped on the shoulder because it broke down. The driver of the Smart Car swerved into the shoulder when a car in front of him slowed down suddenly. The Smart Car then crossed the solid white line onto the shoulder, where it crashed into the back of the Monte Carlo, according to a CHP news release.
