Man charged with killing of pizza deliveryman

Prosecutors say Jose Beltran was charged Monday with one count each of murder and shooting at an occupied motor vehicle in the death of 25-year-old Juan Vasquez. He also faces gun and gang allegations.

Vasquez was shot in the head Aug. 7 by someone in another vehicle as he drove co-workers home from work in Silver Lake. He was removed from life support a week later.

Beltran was arrested Aug. 19 by Los Angeles police on suspicion of driving with a loaded firearm.

Prosecutors say they will ask that Beltran's bail be set at $2 million. He faces more than 50 years to life in prison if convicted.
