LAPD detectives spotted Brent Zubeck at a Ralph's supermarket on the corner of Ventura Boulevard and Libbit Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, according to LAPD officials.

The suspect, wearing a wig, fired a few rounds at the officers and fled the scene on foot, police said. Officers did not fire back.

The suspect was later spotted near the Hayvenhurst Avenue exit on the Ventura (101 ) Freeway.

Police set up a perimeter in the area and several businesses were shut down while the search continued.

Officers cornered Zubeck on a rooftop near a Gelson's Market and took him into custody around 4:30 a.m. Monday.

An officer, at some point, shot Zubeck in the right hip. He was expected to be arrested after receiving treatment for the gunshot wound.
