Kids can play golf for $1 on LA County courses this month

Golfers aged 18 and under can play a round of afternoon golf at county golf courses for just $1 this month, beginning today.

Supervisor Don Knabe recommended that the Board of Supervisors declare July "Junior Golfers Appreciation Month" and drop green fees to $1. He received his colleagues' unanimous support.

"Youth sports programs have traditionally been valuable recreational activities for the young residents of Los Angeles County," Knabe said. "Not only do they offer an opportunity for kids of all ages to learn new physical, social and mental skills, but youth sports also serve as a crime deterrent."

Junior golfers can play for just a buck at any of 17 county golf courses after 12 p.m. when accompanied by someone paying a regular adult fee, senior fee, twilight fee or super-twilight fee.
