Along with press conferences, advertising, email alerts and electronic freeway message signs, the LAPD has asked celebrities with large numbers of Twitter followers to help them get the word out about next month's 405 Freeway closure, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Top of the list are Lady Gaga (almost 11.3 million followers), Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore (seven million and 3.7 million respectively) and Kim Kardashian (eight million), with LAPD officials making contacts with representatives for the four stars.

"The whole idea is just to re-message the theme of avoiding the 405 area and that it's going to be a mess if people don't stay away," LAPD spokesman, Lt. Andy Neiman, said.
