LAPD wound 1, kill 2 in single day

Officer Sara Faden says a man with a handgun was wounded in the abdomen when he confronted officers at a Panorama City apartment building at about 11 p.m. Wednesday. He's hospitalized in stable condition.

About 3 1/2 hours earlier, officers killed a woman sitting on her porch in the Watts area after she reportedly refused to drop a weapon. Police say she'd earlier shot at her daughter and grandchildren but they weren't hurt.

Officers killed 46-year-old Jose Solario of Watts about 12 hours earlier.

Police say Solario was shot when he refused to drop a shotgun and pointed it at officers.
