2 LA-area Indian eateries agree to pay back wages

Investigators found affected employees at Jay Bharat and Standard Sweets and Snacks in Artesia worked on average 55 hours a week and were paid straight time wages. According to federal labor law, they should have earned time-and-a-half for the extra hours. Investigators also found the eateries failed to keep proper records of employees' wages and work hours.

The probe determined that Jay Bharat restaurant owed $41,428 to 12 workers while Standard Sweets and Snacks owed $53,442 to 10 employees.
