Emergency Room Worker Accused of Rape Arrested

According to a statement from the Orange Police department, 27-year-old Francisco Ayala Jr. of Orange was arrested Wednesday evening in connection with the rape of an adult patient in his care. He faces three charges of rape, sodomy and oral copulation.

Police received a report on March 9 from hospital officials saying a female patient had reached out to them, claiming she was raped by Ayala the day before.

Ayala was assigned to watch the woman as she lay "defenseless, altered and inebriated" in her hospital bed.

According to an anonymous email sent to KTLA by a hospital worker, Ayala "began consoling her, hugging her, telling her everything was going to be alright."

The email also claimed that Ayala "kissed her," and then had the patient "perform oral sex on him" before "repeatedly" raping her.
