Wrong-way Driver Gets 6 years in DUI Crash That Killed 2 Sisters

SANTA ANA, Calif. -- A woman convicted of killing two people while driving the wrong way on the 91-freeway, with a blood alcohol 3 times the legal limit, has been sentenced to six years in prison.

Jessica Lynn Shekell, 23, pleaded guilty last October to two counts of vehicular manslaughter and felony drunk-driving in the 2009 crash.

Highway patrol officers say the Fullerton woman, was driving west in the eastbound "Fast Track" lane when her truck collided with a Chevrolet Silverado, carrying four members of the Miguel family.

The driver of the Silverado, 44-year-old Sally Miguel, died at the scene.

Her sister, 30-year-old Patricia Miguel, was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Their nieces, Sara Miguel, 11, and Mary Miguel, 15, were sitting in the back of the double cab.

They both suffered serious injuries, but survived.
